Competition between Indian actresses is not a secret. The buzz goes that.

A special category was created for reigning queen of Bollywood Katrina Kaif at an awards function.

Katrina was apparently miffed at not getting any award while her contemporaries, including Kareena Kapoor, walked away with the trophies.

Given Katrina’s clout in the industry, the organisers of the event were not in.

A mood to annoy her and tried mollifying her by creating a new category especially for her.

Katrina lost the Best Actress award to Vidya Balan for her performance in Paa.

How Katrina forced a special award for herself

At a recent award, a special category was created for the actress, to make up for the Best Actress award she lost to Vidya Balan.

The recently held Star Screen Awards created a special category for Katrina Kaif.

The actress was to perform for the awards but it wasn’t live. It was for the telecast only.

And it was to be recorded after the ceremony ended. Says a source, "When Katrina came to the venue.

She learnt that Kareena Kapoor was getting the Best Actress award (Popular) for 3 Idiots.

Although she was nominated for Best Actress for her performance in New York (Critics’ Choice), Vidya beat her to it for Paa.

It is learnt that she was miffed at being left out because, after all, she had the most hits in 2009."

Director Rohit Shetty has signed on Kareena Kapoor for Golmaal 3. She is going to be the only heroine in the film as Kareena has made it very clear that she does not want to work in multiple heroine projects. So, she will be one of the leads along with the five guys– Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade.

And this time, she will not play the romantic interest of any of the guys. Golmaal 3 also promises to be a family entertainer and won’t have any of the boys’ jokes that the earlier films did. The film is expected to start rolling in April 2010.

Food poisoning has been zeroed upon as the cause of her illness and she has been advised complete bed rest by her doctor. Aamir Khan spins some magic, overwhelms Kareena

Aamir Khan recently gifted a Rs. 25, 000 handloom saree to Kareena Kapoor made by handloom workers of Chanderi village in Madhya Pradesh. Kareena was overwhelmed by the present. Kareena was asked to fly down to Madhya Pradesh for two days.

She had to travel for 14 hours to reach Chanderi. All this while, she didn’t know where they were going and all she knew was that they had to meet Aamir. So when she received the black and gold traditional saree, like the ones the weavers used to make for the nawabs, she was overjoyed.

According to Kareena, Aamir Khan wanted her to have the saree because she is a style icon and she should promote the work of these handloom industries. The ancestors of the workers used to work for royal families.

Kareena and Aamir went to the workers’ homes, interacted with them and saw that they live in miserable conditions and make only about Rs. 50 while the designers borrow their work and sell it for Rs. 30-40, 000. Aamir has invited some of the workers to the premiere of 3 Idiots.

Deepika Padukone joins the crore club

Deepika Padukone has emerged as Bollywood’s dark horse in the ad world during 2009, doubling her take-home compared to what she was worth in 2007-2008.

According to media analysts and brand equity watchers, Deepika is much sought after in both premium and mass brands, right from high-end watches, airlines, clotheslines and even chewing gum.

According to industry estimates, from a time when she was charging around Rs 60 lakh for an endorsement.

Deepika now demands almost Rs 1.5 crore per ad, hot on the heels of Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif (both around Rs2 crore an ad) and Priyanka Chopra (Rs1.5–2 crore).

Veteran market analyst Harish Bijoor says it comes as "no surprise" that Deepika’s equity has doubled.

Aamir Khan 3 IDIOTS weaves magic at Pranpur, goes Dada ke desh!!

At a small village of Pranpur in Chanderi district of Madhya Pradesh and created magic by weaving a sari with Kareena Kapoor.

The gutsy Khan was there not only to promote his upcoming Rajkumari Hirani’s magnum opus ‘3 Idiots’, but also to highlight the plight of handloom weavers engaged in this fine art of making saris.

Is Shahid avoiding Amrita?
